Studying the science of art and the art of science

 The Science of Art

My art cycles continue

Figure drawing is a huge challenge for me. "No art project is ever complete" but I am trying to motivate myself to get started at least, using art books that I have collected.  The first art book I have is the Nude Figure: A visual reference for the artist by Mark Edward Smith.  I have struggled with this book for a long time trying to get the figures drawn just right.  Above is a photo of one recent attempt.

Make Magic instead of sense

Once upon a time I had goals to be an animator and work at Disney.  Then I failed my first animation class and gave up.  Also I realized that selling out isn't what it's cracked up to be. I need to create something that will achieve my goals without becoming a brainwashing agent for a huge corporation. Now my goal is to draw people.   I've decided to simplify my goals, and narrow them down to simply drawing. I will make drawing a daily habit that gives me joy.  I don't have to progress at some insane degree to be happy.  I just have to do what I love and enjoy it.  Even the failures will now have a purpose on my path.

"Have no fear of perfection, you'll never reach it." Dali

Changing my perspective from the need for perfection to a need to learn and grow, I have come to embrace my flaws.  I have a lot to learn and want to take the time to do so without pressuring myself.  I'm trying to improve slowly without overreaching.  I want to post this blog to show my progress, and hopefully bring myself and others inspiration to reach for new goals and try something different at any age.
