The emerging witch
Learning about Paganism in Fall
Quote: The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding- Dipen Parmar.
Mantra: I embrace my mental illness as part of myself, and work to do better to be healthy overall.
Japanese term: Tsukimi - moon viewing
Justice ⚖
My tarot card and meaning: Justice, aka cause and effect. My book on this card said that Justice sits in front of pillars which are different from those of the high priestess. They lead to different "worlds". So that was vague to me. Though I do know that the world of the high priestess is the subconscious one.
I have learned a lot about pagan history and lifestyles through my readings and have found some things that I like and dislike. It interests me to hear about the harvests and collecting seeds to be stored for replanting. Herbs and growing them is another activity that I would like to take part in. For now, I don't have enough space to dabble in it.
Change in seasons
Canadian geese leave New Jersey to take flight to go south for the winter. I love the symbolism of birds flying south, signifying the start of the colder seasons. Birds such as crows represent the dead. I like to think about my ancestors and how they can be incorporated into spells as well. Natural magic that the druids do is fascinating to me as well, using trees and other plants to create energy and worship the Gods.
Casting Circles⛤
Casting circles has always fascinated me. It is reminiscent of the movie The Craft, where they call the corners. I would like to do a ritual using a circle, but I am still struggling to work out all of the kinks in my circle casting because I feel like I need to know everything before I begin. Should I use the four elements, with candles representing each one, or should I invoke the Gods? There are many details involved. I like the idea of enhancing my craft by these methods, but I don't want to mess it up.
Glamor
The glamor of witchcraft also draws me in, because women who are witches are naturally mysterious and have an inner wisdom or beauty about them. Women such as Tituba from Salem, Massachusets and characters like Samantha from Bewitched, represent how much attention and interest a witchy woman could attract, positive and negative.
Halloween
Yes, it's the big one. The holiday, coming up in about a month. Are you ready? I just bought myself some stickers and a halloween sticker book. You bet your ass I'm ready. It's consumerism at its finest. However I also have a deep emotional connection to the holiday that makes me want to dance naked under the full moon. In doing research I have learned that there are many spirits and Gods associated with this holiday. It's not just a time to go pumpkin picking and carve faces on them. Though that's a fun activity as well. I have learned that Halloween is a New Year for witches and is very important in many cultures. It's become more widespread as well because of its American ties and commercialism and candy. However the ghost stories are still a thrill for those who hear them.
